No One Said It Would be Easy

Just an everyday blue collar guy who loves his family. I once was on Twitter. I had a tweecwet life on there. I tell stories. I ramble. I play guitar and I even talk about my life once in awhile.
Good Morning Pretty Human Beings!
It was snowing this morning and the roads weren’t great. I got home fine. Since it’s Valentine’s day, I remembered a Valentine day we had I think it was the fifth or sixth year of our marriage.
I was working days back then, there was talk of snow but the weather man said it was going to be fairly light. Shockingly weather men are sometimes wrong. When I went into work that morning there were a few flurries. I didn’t think anything of it. In most machine shops you can’t really see what’s going on outside because the windows are usually laden with oil and smoke. At lunch time I looked outside and we had gotten about 3-4 inches of snow and it was the heavy thick wet stuff. The news was now saying that we were going to get 8-10 inches. I talked to Karen at lunch time on the work phone. There were no cell phones back then or if there were they as big as a brick. Anyway I told her I might be a little late coming home. She said “no problem. Just don’t stop for food, I have plans for you.”
What I didn’t know was that she had asked one of our relatives to watch the kids. She had planned an evening for us all alone. I got off of work that day at 4:00pm my usual 30-45 minute drive turned into four hours. I got home that night at around 8:00. When I walked in the candles were melted to about half the stem as if they had been burning for hours. She was in a hot red dress, there was dinner on the table that was cold now, she threw her arms around me she was in tears and was shaking like a leaf. She knew the roads were bad but she didn’t know that it would take that long for me to get home. She didn’t know if I was okay or not. I had no way of telling her where I was since I didn’t have a cell phone.
Anyway she was so happy that I was okay, we forgot about dinner. I consoled her, we consummated our love once again. The candles were burning for the whole five minutes of our consummation. Hey I was young back then, don’t judge.
Have a good day beautiful people.
