No One Said It Would be Easy

Just an everyday blue collar guy who loves his family. I once was on Twitter. I had a tweecwet life on there. I tell stories. I ramble. I play guitar and I even talk about my life once in awhile.
Good Morning Afternoon Pretty Human Beings!
“The machine whisperer”
I’m a machinist/set up technician/programmer. I’m pretty good at what I do but I’m not that productive when it comes to running parts. Most technicians aren’t because they’re always finding things wrong and are always stopping the machine to fix it. Our mind isn’t on production our minds are on maintaining the machine and keeping it in good working order.
So today they had me stay over to work with “an operator.” The guy has been working as a production guy for 23 years now. He’s had opportunities for promotion but he turned them down because he loves running production. They have compensated him for it though. He told me today that he’s an over a millionaire, which means he has over a million in the bank. (I know because I asked what that meant) Not bad for a lowly machine operator.
I’ve now nicknamed him the machine whisperer because while I was working with him he was telling me things like:
“you have to listen closely to the machine it will tell you when it’s almost ready for a new part.” “If you listen closely you’ll know when it’s getting tired and needs a break. “It will tell you when it’s oil is getting low.” “It will tell you when the tools are getting dull and it’s time to change them.” “I’ve been working with these machines all of my life, they are my best friends.”
I learned more from him today than I’ve learned from any technician in my entire career.
The awesome thing about the machine whisperer is when you watch him work, it seems he’s moving at a snails pace but no one can match his rates. He’s also the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. And he’s as happy as a Lark. From what I hear Lark’s are pretty happy. I’ve seen him around for the last year or so but I’ve only just met him today. It restores your faith in mankind when you come across an individual like him. The machine whisperer goes in my list of beautiful people I’ve had the privilege to encounter in my life time.
Have a good day beautiful people.
